A. First, let me say that I lost 60 lbs in less than a year following the advice Im going to tell you about, and I've kept it off for 5 years now.

The honest answer is that there aren't natural healthy ways to lose large amounts of weight in a short time. "Real" results come from developing healthy habits that you can sustain for years and be happy. Crazy diets (like Cabbage Soup Diet or Grapefruit Diet) don't work because nobody can live like that, and a big part of the weight loss comes from muscle loss, which means that when you inevitably get sick of the diet, you have less strength and energy for activity, which means you're going to gain back the weight you lost, plus more weight.

Real results come from eating healthy and getting proper exercise and sleep. You know what you've always been told will make you healthy (exercise, veggies, etc).

HOWEVER, when someone isn't living healthy, often a sudden change of lifestyle can trigger a sudden loss of extra weight, but after a week or so, the weight loss will come in smaller increments. So you might lose 7 or 8 lbs in the first week, but go down to 2 or 3 per week after that.

Here are some important weight loss helps:

1. Drink half your body weight in water (fluid ounces) each day. If I weigh 200 lbs, I should drink at least 100 fl. oz. per day in water. Water not only assists in weight loss, but it will help you cut out your desire for unhealthy drinks like soda, which should be eliminated completely (even diet soda).

2. Get one hour of exercise daily. I still walk 1/2 hour in the morning, and do it again at night. If I can't get out for a walk, then I just walk/bounce in place on an exercise trampoline which only costs 20 dollars. I know you said you don't want workout equipment, so if that isn't an option, then just walk in place or step side-to-side or do jumping jacks or what ever, and do other calisthenics to build muscle. Muscle actually burns fat while your body is at rest, so the more muscle, the better your body burns calories.

3. Fix your own meals and avoid prepared ingredients. Avoid fast food and deepfried food like its the devil. Get your food as unprocessed as you can (even foods like canned spaghetti sauce have added high fructose corn syrup, so make your own), and try to work in vegetables with every meal. The best way to do this is to plan your week's meals at least a week in advance, and get everything you need in one weekly trip so you'll be sure to have everything you need every day. My family has found 10 healthy entrees we all like that have mostly lean meats, vegetables, and whole grains. Those three types of food (whole grains, veggies, lean meat) are the key to happy healthy eating. My wife and I let each of our four kids pick one meal that is their favorite out of our ten, and we decide on the others. And of course, we are always looking for other meals to work in.

4. Get your sleep. 8 hours is best. 10 pm to 6 am is best because of the way your body clock functions. Many people don't realize that a full nights sleep makes your body burn calories better.

Your fat cells are static but grow or shrink depending on fat reserves you have. After having a child genetics play a huge part in your potential. I would start a healthy lifestyle beginning today. Don't "diet"...pick a healthy meal plan you can live with for the rest of your life. A. Nothing more than an egg a day. Eggs are not such a bright idea. It would be best to reduce your intake of eggs to maybe three in a week. But for those of you die hard egg fans, you may have up to one egg a day but nothing more than that.
