Can laxatives alone really cause weight loss?

Q. Ok nobody panic, I am not considering this for actual weight loss! I am asking out of curiosity alone, I have a very healthy body and would like to keep it that way!
But can laxatives really cause wieght loss without exrecising and dieting? I thought all they did was stimulate bowel movements, wouldn't that be too late? Shouldn't all the calories be digested by the time it reaches the large intesines? Or is it because of the time its taken in relation to when the food is eaten that causes the desired effect?
Once again, I am not considering this for myself and am asking out of curiosity.

A. NOTHING cab cause weight loss without exercise abd dieting. Laxatives would help clean your system and help get rid or two to three pounds but no more. Together, you might lose if you stick to all three.

I know over all, losing weight is a good thing. But after losing a significant amount you could have a "empty bag" syndrome. 1. loose skin hanging down 2. turkey neck 3. more wrinkles on your face 5. half empty hanging breasts, etc.

Do alot of pushups see how many push ups you can do without stopping and then do 5-10 sets a day i don't know what kinda wheight lifting equipment you have acsess to but you should do bench presses, military presses and curls
And for dieting just don't eat anything real fatty all packaged foods tells you how much fat it has in it try not to get more than 50% fat a day

A. As long as you are not doing it on purpose, you are fine. Just make sure you are eating what you are supposed to be eating. I have lost and gained weight throughout my entire pregnancy. I once lost 9 lbs in just a few days. My doctor said as long as I'm drinking enough water and I'm eating what I'm supposed to be eating, the baby will be fine. Fetuses take what they need, even if it's at the expense of the mother. So, basically, your baby is taking from you and that's why you are losing the weight. Just bring it up at your next doctor's appointment. But I wouldn't worry about it.

What counts more, calories, miles or time when on the stairmaster?

Q. I stay on the stairmaster about 90 minutes and calories read 800 or 900 depending on the intensity level and around 7 or 8 miles.
I only like using the stairmaster or treadmill at the gym. On the stairmaster I usually select the wight loss option.

Doesn't matter if you exercise 2 hrs or go 10 miles...if you go slow/low intensity your body won't burn as many calories as if you go faster/high intensity.

Any cardio exercise is good for fat burning, but a well balanced workout program will also include some strength training/muscle building as well. The more muscle you have, the faster your metabolism so the more calories you burn at rest.

Sounds like you are on the right track with your exercise...just make sure to combine that with a healthy diet. �

What types of dance is great for loosing weight?

Q. Ok, Im 14 and I dont want to take weight loose pills or diet. Dancing helps a lot and my metabolism is weird; i can eat and loose weight, now, but that takes a while. I dont want to learn how to lap dance or poll dance. But what is a good type of dance that will help me flatten my belly and works on my arms and legs? and please no jersey shore jokes or saying lap dance and poll dancing.

A. I am 14 years old as well. I've been doing a type of dance called Zumba for about a 8 months. It's a very fun, energetic way to get fit. I didn't do it to lose weight, but instead to strengthen my heart and body. It's a dance that is created for the purpose of fitness and feels like the salsa in a way. You can check to see if your area provides a class or they sell DVDs in select stores and online. Other than that, when you're alone at home or something, just blast the music and dance like crazy! If I use monster milk on a good diet can it help me loose weight?
Q. I like to work out.. But I'm still getting use to all these protiens... If I drink monster milk after my work outs and eat healthy will I notice muscle gain and weight loose?

A. I love love love love love Monster Milk, but it's not really ideal post workout. You want to have monster milk as a meal supplement. Monster Milk has a mixture of different types of protein from egg to whey and so on. Each of them are processed at different times of the body. So I wouldn't recommend it as a post work out protein. I would get something with either straight egg or whey protein.

Then ideally what you want to do is get a straight protein (yeah it tastes like shit) to take post work out. And you drink MM either for breakfast or dinner or right before bed, or even for lunch. You want to take MM once a day not more than that.

Secondly MM is mainly taken by body builders when they're bulking---ie putting on weight and muscle. Not really when they're cutting--since it seems that's your goal. However I knew some people who did it take it as part of their cutting regimen (cutting is when you are losing weight basically but still maintain muscle tone and development).

If you take MM while cutting, then again you take it as a meal replacement in a very strict dietary intake. So I would not recommend cheat meals if you're on them or anything of that nature. You stick to low calories---and be super clean because MM is tough on cutting. It tastes great but gets you sometimes.

Keeping a food journal really does help. It will give you a much better sense of how much you are eating, and when, and why.

Make a few additional small changes - walk everywhere, always use stairs instead of elevators, walk on escalators, get up and move around at least once an hour if your work or your life in general is sedentary, walk every day, use a pedometer. Walking 10,000 steps a day is a really good idea. Build up to a long brisk walk everyday, or most days. Be more active and watch less TV and spend less time on the computer. Buy one piece of exercise equipment to have at home and be strict with yourself about using it. Sometimes you can find mini-steppers or exercise bikes at second hand stores and thrift stores for just a few dollars.

Start a weight lifting routine. Join a gym. Possibly you can find one that has someone who specializes in weight lifting programs for beginners. Weight lifting will increase your metabolism as well as improve posture and appearance overall. Even if you can't get to the gym you can work out at home using things around the house. Invest in a good weight training book. The Dummies series actually has a good one.

In terms of diet, cut out or reduce things like junk food, pop, fat, fast food. Eat more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meat, fish. Particularly if you choose a vegetarian lifestyle include natural peanut butter, hummus, dried fruit and nuts. Pay close attention to getting the nutrients your body needs to be healthy.

Make your portion sizes smaller. Use a smaller plate - in our society we have become accustomed to thinking that we need a large plate of food at every meal, and we don't. About quarter of your plate of food should be protein and at least half of it should be veggies.

Learn to count calories. At your current weight and activity level, you may possibly need about 2000 calories or more to maintain your current weight. So you will lose weight at a reasonable and healthy rate if you cut back to about 1600 or 1700 calories a day.

Eat small amounts frequently, rather than three large meals. Never skip breakfast. Include some protein in your breakfast. It will help get you through the day.

Drink plenty of water, at least 8 big glasses of water a day, and more if it is very hot, if you sweat a lot, or if you are exercising intensely, and eliminate fruit juices. Fruit juices have too many calories, so get your vitamins from fresh fruit, not the juice. You will begin to see changes in your body.

Is it harder to lose weight after having a baby?
Q. When I was younger I remember I could just stop eating junk food and lose weight right away. Now, I am having the struggle of my life! I work out intensely for an hour 5 times a week. Usually losing weight is simple numbers. You need to know your basic metabolic rate (BMR). Once you know your BMR then you can design a diet lower in calories than your BMR.
