Q. I just started a (much needed) weightloss program on Saturday and I felt fine then and on Sunday but now today (Monday) I basically feel like if I'm coming down with a flu. It it because my body is reacting to the change in activities and my new diet or am I just coming down with the flu.
A. That's a good question. When I went on my diet-and-exercise kick, I went through sugar and simple-carb withdrawal (really!) for about 4 days. I felt like total sh+t because although I didn't eat massive amounts of sugar my body was craving those simple carbs. So it depends...have you cut out certain addictive foods like wheat or sugar or dairy? are you overexercising? Play it by ear and wait a few days. If you feel worse and worse, go to the doctor. But keep in mind that you could be adjusting, in which case you'll feel worse tomorrow then start feeling better.
Does working a specific area help decrease fat in that area?
Q. I am satisfied with my arms and calves but I want to get rid of the fat around my stomach and chest. Will working those areas burn the fat faster or do I need to stick to a general weightloss program?
A. Fat loss occurs all over the body at the same time. There is no such thing as "targeted weight loss" or "spot reduction." Fat can accumulate unevenly around the body, like snow drifts in winter. But like snow melts all at the same rate when the weather warms up, so does fat loss occur evenly. It only seems to decrease more slowly in the "trouble spots" like the belly and arms because there was more accumulation there to begin with.
Stick to your general weight loss program.

how can i lose weight without making my body go in starvation mode?
Q. i have tried weightloss programmes , but all of them tend to make my body go in starvation mode, that is my body starts to hold whatever it got even tighter.
A. your body goes in starvation mode IF you try for a crash dieting program.
you have to make sure that whatever dieting program you use, is a good one, gives you sufficient nutrients and makes you work.
usually the food is a filler, that is it does not contain too much energy in it, and contains much more fibres, so that it just feels like you are full.

Is it possible for any sized person to become really skinny?
Q. From a 200 lb overweight person to an average sized person...is it physically possible for their body types to become a size 0, 1, or 2? If you work really hard, can just anybody have a 20 inch waist or is it only those people with small frames?
I'm pretty much normal weight and I would like to start a weightloss program up, but I don't want to have a physically impossible goal that I'll never achieve :(.

A. i have to say that it isnt. perhaps it may be possible for some people, but not all people are built the same. body types can prevent a person from being in a very small size. for example, if a person has very wide hips they may never be able to fit into a size 0 jeans. not because theyre fat, but because size 0 jeans arent made to fit people with very wide hips. they cant make their hips any more narrow; thats just how theyre built.
also muscle. if a person has very toned legs, that will determine what size jeans they can wear. unless they end up losing the muscle there's no way to squeeze into jeans that have a much smaller leg than that person has.
what matters is that you lose the excess fat on your body and you get into good shape. so set that goal for yourself rather than setting a goal to become a size 0, or a size 1, etc.
