will resting a day from workouts help weight loss?

Q. Hi im 14 and overweight. i have been working out everyday (running 2 miles on the treadmill and than 50 mins on the elliptical). I also eat healthy (grains fruits veggies and lots of water). im not losing weight and its been two months!! I need help i think i might be at a plateau. what should i do? any tips? also if i don't workout everyday will that help weight loss?
Thank you in advance!

A. You may have added some muscle while losing fat at first. You need to change up your exercise routine every 4-6 weeks to keep your body from adapting to what you are doing. You can have a plateau for exercise and still be overweight if you don't keep changing up what you do. Do more running and less elliptical for awhile and see if that helps.

Exercise is only part of weight loss. Healthy eating including portion control is the other. Eat lots of fresh fruits and veggies with moderate amounts of lean protein and whole grain carbs. Cut out seconds, sweets, and junk. Try dividing your plate into quarters. First fill half with fruits and veggies, The other quarters are for the lean protein and whole grain carb. This will help limit your calories and ensure you get plenty of fruits and veggies.

Does anyone know any good military workouts or weight loss muscle exercises?
Q. Would like to know if anyone knows a good way to build muscle like a 6 pack and ect, Plus a good weight loss plane to go with it to stay in shape?

A. Military exercises are designed for functional uses not getting a 6 pack, although people in the military do get six packs. Most people in the military that have 6 packs are 18-25 year olds that just went through basic training. As you probably know your metabolism seems to slow down after a certain age. Or maybe we just become more sedentary?

The key to getting a six pack is diet. A six pack and being in great shape don't necessarily correlate.

You can be in great shape and have a flat stomach instead of a six pack.

How do you get a six pack? I've known many people that do hundreds of ab exercises and still don't get a six pack. I know people who do a minimum ab workout and have a six pack. Ab muscles grow just like any other muscle group.

Star with 2 sets and work up to 5 sets of ab exercies. Do 10-15 reps only.

Too many people think you must do a 1,000 situps to get abs, but all you are doing is working on creating endurance muscles and way over doing it.

Research online how many calories you should be eating. Make sure you are eating the right combination of protein, fats, carbs etc. Try to eat fruits and veggies. Cut the fat on the meat you eat to a minimum.

Progressive overload priniciple look that up to.

Start with 2 sets of any exercise for any body part and GRADUALLY increase your sets. At first stick to doing 10-12 reps per set.

DO NOT LIFT WEIGHTS IF YOU DON'T EDUCATE YOURSELF FIRST. You WILL hurt yourself.

Read books. If you can afford it hire a personal trainer for awhile, better yet hire a few different trainers over your lifetime.

Need workouts for weight loss and muscle building?
Q. I'm a three sport athlete and during the summer I always seem to gain a bit of weight up until two a days for football. I need various workouts that will not only help me slim down, but build muscle. Preferably core muscles, triceps, and lower body in general. Any suggestions?

A. Perfect, you are the perfect candidate for kettlebell training, you will build muscle without becoming slow or losing your cardio

Does anyone know the best workouts for weight loss?
Q. Hey, I am 22 and 5ft 4 (weight = 120 lb). I work crazy hrs but am trying to lose 10lb, I eat approx 1400kc per day(sometimes a little less and sometimes a little more). I am looking for exercises that are the most effective at increasing my metabolic rate and burning calories. Also, How many times should I go to the gym in order to lose 10lb. I am feeling tired and unhealthy (even though i follow a good diet, full of wholegrains, I still feel like crap)! Can anyone help me with any of this?

A. I am 5'5 and weigh 125, I would also like to lose 10 lbs. Most people want to think we are crazy, already skinny. But I know its where WE feel good at and no one can tell us different. We know in our head we should feel ok at this weight but wont be happy until we lose that 10 lbs. What I have found is that running or jogging for 30 to 60min. per day at least 4-5 days a week, taking vitamins and eating lots of salad, minus the excess dressing works excellent. It takes a few weeks, but all of a sudden it kicks in and the weight drops fast. Also your mood and energy level will sky rocket. Drink a lot of water too, that does kick your metabolism up, flushes out all the bad stuff, which makes you feel so good when toxins, fat and stuff start getting pushed out of your body. It is very hard and you have to FORCE yourself to do this for a while, but I promise, even if you didnt change your eating habbits or reduce your caloric intake, you would loose weight. I have tried all kinds of diets AND excercize programs, nothing has worked or even come close to what I described above. Bonus: Wierd, but unbelievably true, you will eventually realize that your mood and your think space will feel fantastic everyday after a while of continued jogging, vitamins, water flush, and salad. Be warned though, it takes a minute to get there, but once you do, you will know exactly what im talking about and you will want to let everyone know how much it changes you inside and out.
