New diet: if i give up breads and chocolate/candy ( im already a vegetarian) and i run at least 2miles a day?

Q. in track, then how long will it take before i start to see weight loss results? any weight losss bosting ideas?
im 134 and 5'8
ijust want to lose that annoying 5 pounds

A. Ice cream and donuts are vegetarian so with a diet like that you cannot expect to lose weight. See site below and learn what fats make you fat and what fats actually make you thin and how they do that. Salt has no calories but makes you fat.

Never cut carbs, fats and calories. Eat foods made by nature, not man-made foods designed to make you fat and addicted to food. Which has more calories: a plain potato or one with a healthy fat like olive oil (extra virgin and cold pressed)? The latter. Which is more fattening? The former. How can this be? The fat slows down the calories going into the blood (see glycemic load and glycemic index) making it less fattening.

What are some yoga routines i can do to loos weight ?
Q. I'm trying to loose weight, and I really enjoy doing Yoga, I was wondering if there were some routines that I could do , that maybe you guys know about ? My INternet is really slow so I cant watch videos, but if you guys give me step by step instructions and maybe some pictures it would be soooo greatly appreciated, but anything would be gret, thanks so much !

A. Hi Elly, I am a certified Hatha yoga instructor. The dieting tips the other person gave are good ideas. When it comes to yoga for weight loss doing the series known as Surya Namaskar or sun salutation is essential. It burns almost 4 calories per minute. Of course the most important thing to remember when doing yoga for weight loss is to practice at least three times per week if your a beginner and work your way up to 5 or 6 times per week. People who do yoga regularly are less likely to be overweight.

You don't mention your height and weight. Some people think they need to lose weight and they really just need to live a healthier lifestyle. If your a teen, exercise is much better than dieting for weight loss because you are still growing and need all your nutrients.

The trick, well it's not really a trick, to weight loss is having a caloric deficit everyday. This means you burn more calories than you take in. The best way to do this is by eating healthier foods and doing physical activity regularly like yoga. Since you say your internet is slow, I would recommend getting a yoga video or attending a class. It does not have to be a weight loss yoga video. Ross Dress for Less has a great selection of really cheap yoga videos. A box store like T**get or W*l M*rt also would have them.

As it turns out, I just published an article about how to do surya namaskar with pictures. I provide the link below. I also provide a link to YogaHathaYoga.com's Yoga for Weight Losss articles. These articles are backed by evidence from clinical studies and explain which yoga poses burn the most calories and how use yoga for weight loss.
Good luck!

How heavy do you have to be to get the lap band weight losss surgery?
Q. I have at least a 100 pounds to loose I have tried to do it by just exercising and eating right but it gets me no where at the most i might loose 20lbs out of the 100 i need to loose, and even if i loose that eventually i wind up gaining it all back. Only meals I really eat are for dinner because I usually dont have time for breakfast or lunch. I use to not be a big fan of the weightloss surgery but at this point ill do whatever.

A. First, a work of nutritional advice. According to my nutritionist, and from my own experience, not eating breakfast or lunch is actually a bad thing, You are putting your body into starvation mode. Your body ends up preferring to put its calories into storage, i.e. fat, and increases your appetite when you do eat. So in the end you eat a larger dinner and put more of it away into fat. Eat something at every meal, even if its something small and fast. I keep yogurt around just for those days that I dont have time to eat breakfast or lunch.

Anyway, with what Information you have given, so far I would say you do qualify. You sound a lot like me, before my surgery. However, these are the qualifications requirement for my (and most) doctor, so look it over and see if you do qualify.

1. Your BMI is more than 40 or more than 35 with obesity related health conditions
2. You weigh twice your ideal weight or are at least 100 pounds overweight
3. You are between the ages of 18 and 60
4. You have been overweight for 5 years or more
5. You have been unable to lose weight thru diet and exercise
6. You do not have an illness that has caused you to be overweight
7. You do not drink too much alcohol
8. You are committed to making changes in your diet and lifestyle
9. You are willing to continue working with and be monitored by your LAP-BAND doctor

As to if you should have the band, only you can decide if you want to make the life style and medical changes you have to in order to get the band. Everyone who is thinking of weight loss surgery had to decided if taking the risks and making the life changes is better then the alternative, being morbidly obese. For me it was easy, I was dying from being obese, so it was surgery or death. Only you can make the choice for you.

On last thing I can say, I had a band put in a year and a half ago and I would do it again in a heartbeat. I even had to self paid ($17,000), (I emptied my 401K) so I want my monies worth.

If I lose alot of weight will my penis get bigger?
Q. Right now I'm 430 pounds about to get weight loss surgery in a couple of months. The first thing I wanna do when I'm done is try to get laid. Obviously I'm gonna go for the bar sIuts. However right now when my penis is erect it's about 5 inches. And I'm wondering if I lose a ton of weight in a short period of time will it get bigger?

A. It will not get bigger, but the weight losss will expose more of it, giving the illusion of growth
