Q. I always hear people say that you cant lose weight if you starve yourself. Then how come anorexic people get so thin?
A. They don't eat for so long that there bodies go into survival mod. That fat in their bodies is tapped into for nutritions instead of the food they should be eating. As a result, they loose weight. It's VERY dangerous to lose weight this way though and you can end up killing yourself.
Does cutting out carbs really help for losing weight?
Q. I thought it was just a fad diet because you dont hear about it anymore. I cant lose weight even though I dont eat a lot, but I eat toast and potatoes every day. If I cut those out would it help?
A. Carbs are long chains of sugars, and they become sugars in your intestine where they are absorbed. Do not cut out carbs, they are a good source of slow releasing energy. You may find that cutting down on carbs and eating more meat or veggies has an effect. Carbs can make you feel bloated so cutting down may help you feel thinner that way.

Q. I work out every day- i eat healthy for the most part, I do love bread and will have a peice probably every day.... but
I just cant lose weight and actually look like I am getting heavier. I just got a thyroid blood test done, because my mom-- who also has thyroid problems says my eyes always look odd lately and stuff--- what could all of this be?

A. Yes, low thyroid levels can make it hard to lose weight, or make you gain weight.
You didn't really mention what you eat, but there are some things that can really ruin all your other good habits.
First of all, soda, pop, coke, whatever you call it, it really bad. That's way too much sugar all in one little serving. Even the diet pop is really not good for you. The ingredients can still cause people to gain weight.
Second, Eat Breakfast! This will jump start your metabolism. Since your metabolism slows down at night, you need to turn it back on in the morning...you do this by eating a nutritious breakfast that has protein, fruit, vegetables...
Continue to nourish your body throughout the day. When your body isn't getting what it needs, it stores calories as fat and you won't be able to access it. When your body isn't being fed (lean proteins and healthy vitamins and minerals) , it has a hard time burning fat correctly.
Chew sugar -free gum instead of regular...that's 5 calories rather than 25.
You don't need to cut out all carbs and starches, but if you want bread, make sure it is whole grain.
I hope you get it all sorted out and that your test can help you get some answers that you need.
Good Luck
