How does birth control affect weight loss?
Q. I have been on a strict weight loss program. I eat generally healthy and go to the gym 5 to 6 times a week and about three times with a personal trainer.
However, soon I am planning on getting into birth control pills. I have been told that your hormones go crazy with the pills... Would this affect my weight loss? I know it reacts differently with each woman... but what are the possibilities?

Thanks in advance!

A. Get a low dose birth control:

Are Nicotine patches harmful for nonsmokers?
Q. I read a book by Dr. Oz that recommends using Nicotine patches and coffee to get over a plateau in your weight loss. Are Nicotine patches harmful? I have never smoked a day in my life.

A. His advice sounds nuts to me. I hit a weight-loss plateau. I stayed the same weight for a few weeks, and then the weight loss continued. That was at 169 pounds, now I'm down to 163. So, it took a few weeks - Patience is better than poison.

I avoid coffee - maybe I have it as a treat once every three months. I avoid cola's too - maybe two cola's a month.

Nicotine? I would no more use nicotine than I would drink mercury with an arsenic chaser.

How old does someone have to be buying over the counter weight loss pills?
Q. Is there a age you have to be to buy weight loss pills from Walmart® ?
Do they check at the self checkouts? Thanks for answering!!

A. The only OTC meds that I know that get IDed are cough medicines (because you can get high off it) and nicotine patches/gum and that's just stupid. If someone under 18 wants to stop smoking that's a good thing.
