Can I lose weight on a long term fruit veggies and nuts and raisins diet diet?

Q. I'm 5'5 135 and want to lose about 18 lbs. Wil I lose weight eating like thi for a year while excercising everyday? I've already started eating this way, so far I love it!

A. The only way to lose fat is to reduce your long-term average daily calories. It doesn't even necessarily have to be healthy... There was a professor not long ago who lost 30 pounds from only eating twinkies, just to prove he could lol. So you can eat whatever you want, if health is not a concern.

The most common way people who actually end up successful tend to accomplish this is by making it a part of your daily life to record everything you eat. To do this, it helps if you get a food scale (can be less than 5 dollars at big-box stores), and use a website such as cronometer.com or myfitnesspal.com
It seems like a pain in the *** at first, but becomes normal pretty quickly, and fun even as you see how good you do each meal. People who don't do this, almost never lose weight in the long run, and go through diet fads one after another.

To find out how many calories you need to be eating, try using a nifty tool that ends up giving you rough idea of how long it will take you eating a certain amount of calories: http://bwsimulator.niddk.nih.gov/

I think its a misconception that working out is absolutely required to lose weight. Studies show that your calorie intake, regardless of people who exercise or not, has almost everything to do with weight loss and exercise doesn't make much of an effect (because people tend to consume more when they workout more). Even so, it is definitely required to be healthy and feel good.

That is basically all you need to know to lose weight. Eighteen pounds should take up to like 4 months to lose actual fat, as a female, and not just water weight.

If you are wanting a more complicated approach and wanting to know how to eat healthy (on top of losing weight), the diet plans I like for general health are the Ornish diet and the DASH diet. Both are very sensible and balanced and backed by sound science.

How do I lose weight to fit into skinny jeans?
Q. Hi, I'm 14 years old, 5' 5" and, I weigh about 155 pounds. How can I lose weight? I just cant figure out how. I know I'm not super fat or anything but I just want to be skinny. Any tips or anything like that would be helpful.
I am on my school track team, although I throw shot and discus. We do about a mile of jogging or so every Monday - Thurday. I also play baseball but not very often.

A. There is no secret to losing weight. It is a matter of fewer calories in, more calories out. You can really make a dent in that if cut out the soda and energy drinks. Slowly add in some exercise, which can also tone up your core muscles which will help you burn more calories in the long run even doing less exercise like activities.

How do I lose weight in my legs and butt?
Q. I have been dieting and exercising lately to try to lose some weight (I am not overweight 5'1" and 110lb) but i have only been losing weight from my stomach and none from like my legs and butt...how can I lose weight in my legs and butt and not my stomach?

A. Be patient. When I lose weight I notice I lose it in certain places first and then the rest will eventually follow. Just remember that by exercising regularly you are doing a good thing for your health and be proud of yourself. Also to lose weight you have to do more that 30 minutes of cardio 3-4 days a week. You need to do more like 45-60 minutes for 5+ days a week. Good luck! I hope you see the results you want soon.

Will I lose weight if i start eating only veggies and fruits?
Q. I want to just eat fruits and vegetabled starting now until FOREVER! SERIOUSLY! I want to do this not only for weight loss but health reasons also....so will i lose weight? If so how much?
Im 18 140 lbs I eat candy almost everyday fried foods almost everyday really bad stuff!

A. You are very stupid for an 18 year old. First of all, we don't know your height, and you said you're 140 pounds. Are you 140 pounds and 5"11 or 140 pounds and 4"11? No one can answer this question if you don't tell us your height. Second of all, you should know every body is different so you lose different amounts at different times. So I can't estimate. Also, you have to eat all food groups. Depriving yourself of a food group is actually going to make it harder for you to lose weight. Forever? I don't think so. And another thing is that it's nearly impossible to make a drastic change like that and not ruin your metabolism. It's imposibble to just change your diet like that overall. Instead of candy and fried foods, you should eat vegetables and fruits. But only vegetables and fruits? Nuh-uh.

Just some of the many reasons why you are a little more dumb than most 18 year olds.
